The Gift of Today

Psalm 118:24

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

NIV

Each morning we are given a gift we did not earn, a day we cannot guarantee. The psalmist does not say "This might be" or "This could become" but declares with certainty: "This IS the day the Lord has made." Present tense. Already complete. Already good. Our task is not to make the day worthy but to recognize its worth. Rejoicing is not denial of difficulty but defiance of despair. We choose gladness not because circumstances warrant it but because the Maker of the day is trustworthy. What shifts when you view today not as obstacle but as offering?

Ponder This

What attitude am I bringing to this day that God has made?

Today's Practice

Before your feet touch the floor each morning this week, whisper: "This is the day the Lord has made."

Speak This Truth

I receive this day as gift. I will rejoice in the Giver.
